Fr. Murphy, a priest of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, grew up in Saint Timothy Parish in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia. He attended Father Judge High School before entering Saint Charles Seminary in 1982. Ordained on May 19, 1990, Fr. Murphy spent the first 20 years of his priesthood working in the Hispanic Apostolate.

Fr. Murphy was the Coordinator of the Hispanic Apostolate in Southern Chester County while living at St. Cecilia in Coatesville.

After that he was assigned to Hispanic ministry at the newly established parish of Our Lady of Hope in Philadelphia.

Then he served the Hispanic community of La Milagrosa chapel while serving at the Cathedral of Ss. Peter and Paul in Philadelphia.

In 1999, he was assigned to open a mission of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in Nuestra Señora del Carmen Parish, Barceloneta, Puerto Rico. Upon his return, he worked at Saint Patrick in Norristown, PA for 8 years.

In January of 2011 he was assigned to Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, West Grove, where he spent 4.5 years until his current assignment as Coordinator of Mother of Mercy House here in Kensington.

Fr. Murphy finds joy in playing piano, reading, exercise and travel. If you see him walking around the neighborhood, do not hesitate to say hello!
